Making the transition from military to civilian life can be a difficult one. Finding the right career is central to establishing a new path on the journey into the civilian world.
Those leaving the armed forces, whether voluntarily, through redundancy or medically discharged, face a number of challenges within the job market. Often civilian employers find it difficult to understand an individual’s military experience and identify transferable skills and talent. Veterans may also fall foul of requirements for specific ‘years of experience’, ruling them out of the race before interview.
We believe that the best way to determine if someone is right for the job is to speak with them directly. That is why we have launched the Veterans’ Guaranteed Interview Scheme.
What is the Veterans’ Guaranteed Interview Scheme?
The Veterans’ Guaranteed Interview Scheme is a pledge by businesses to invite those who have served in the Armed Forces to an interview where they have met the minimum criteria for a job vacancy.
How does my business sign up to the Veterans’ Guaranteed Interview Scheme?
To help businesses get started, we have put together a template policy which you can modify to suit your circumstances.
You can sign up for free in three simple steps.
Organisations which have implemented the scheme will add you to our directory of Veterans’ Guaranteed Interview Scheme businesses and can use the scheme logo on their website and recruitment materials.
Businesses signing up to the Veterans’ Guaranteed Interview Scheme may also like to formally sign the Government’s Corporate Armed Forces Covenant.
